Three Cross Patch Hats.

The cross is one of the most powerful images known to mankind. Anybody in Western civilization can recognize it almost instantly. I love the cross and the sacrifice that it represents, but I have always found the image of three crosses to be more powerful. This is a short explanation as to why.

Jesus was crucified in between two criminals. Matthew and Mark tell us that the men crucified with Jesus hurled insults at Him along with everyone else. I feel this represents everybody who has ever sinned. When you commit a sin, you are mocking Jesus the same way these two criminals were.

But as they hung there beside Jesus, something changed in one of them. He realized that he deserved the punishment he was receiving, but Jesus did not. This man had nothing left to offer Jesus. He had no good works left for him to do. He couldn’t go back and change whatever he had done to deserve his punishment.

He recognized who Jesus was and asked Him, “Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” And what Jesus said to him is one of the most powerful lines that has ever been said:

“Truly I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”

That’s it.

Can you imagine dying beside Jesus for a punishment that you deserved and then walking into Paradise with Him on that very same day!?

That is why I designed these hats around the image of three crosses. I didn’t want them to just look good or have a Christian symbol on them. I wanted them to represent this story and the reminder that comes with it every time you see those three crosses.

So when you see three crosses together, which criminal are you? Are you the one that continues to mock Jesus and go your own way, or the one that realized that you are not able to save yourself and submitted to Jesus to pay the price for your sins?

If you do, you too can be saved and walk with Him into Paradise someday.
